Purchasing Manager

The purchasing manager oversees all vendor management and purchasing-related tasks for 7-Nation brands (Slingshot and Ride Engine). This role works closely with Demand & Supply Planning, Product Development, Sales, Marketing, PLM, and Accounting to efficiently execute product delivery and inventory targets while managing product costs and cash flow targets. This role requires excellent data, organizational, and communication skills as well as a passport and willingness to travel to meet with vendors.

Main duties include:

  • Oversee and execute purchasing system ensuring POs are placed and delivered on-time.
  • Manage purchasing team and processes including protocols and guidelines ensuring they are followed.
  • Maintain purchasing calendar to ensure all purchasing activities are planned and executed on-time.
  • Provide timely high-level purchasing forecasts to vendors.
  • Responsible for ensuring on-time and complete fulfillment of PO’s as well as real-time up-to-date vendor reports detailing status of pending PO’s.
  • Provide regular high-level PO and delivery status reports to executive team.
  • Responsible for maintaining target inventory levels at all warehouse locations.
  • Responsible for ensuring product delivery schedules, inventory, and available to sell data is accurate and readily available.
  • Monitor first costs and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts, PO’s, lot sizes, delivery terms, and first costs.
  • Develop and execute vendor due diligence and compliance program to ensure vendors are vetted and aligned with 7-Nation delivery needs.
  • Accountable for creation of supply plans and production schedules.
  • Accountable for ensuring item receipts are accurate errors are resolved with suppliers.
  • Manage product receiving transactions and collaborate with accounting on billing process, vendor payments, and accuracy verification of financial data for use in maintaining records.
  • Forecasts all supplier liabilities and prepares all payouts for the accounting department to ensure vendors are paid on time.
  • Provide weekly updates to Visual Control Board (VCB) as required.
  • Support monthly S&OP process as required.
  • Manage the integrity of ERP data including item setup, SKUs, UPC Codes, Pricing, Descriptions, Item Labels, etc.
  • Assist with forecasting and budgeting process as required.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Required skills:

  • 10+ years’ relevant purchasing experience required.
  • Data driven with an affinity for mining data to find root causes problem and solve complex issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of purchasing, sourcing, supplier performance management, supply chain, and inventory strategies and practices.
  • Strong collaboration, management, and communication skills.
  • Strong negations and contract management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast-paced and demanding.
  • Must be self-directed and have excellent initiative and organizational skills.
  • A stress resistant personality, able to multitask with urgency drive, and energy in a hectic environment with changing priorities.
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus.
  • Kudos for multiple languages.
  • A passport and willingness to travel to meet face-to-face with suppliers (post-pandemic).

Seasonal Reception and Customer Service Clerk

Here’s a great opportunity to get your foot into the action sports industry. Come join the team for a Summer and experience what the Gorge is all about! The seasonal customer service rep will join the 7-Nation, Slingshot Sports, and Ride Engine Customer Service Team for the height of the kiting, wing foiling, wakeboarding, and windsurfing season. The position is based out of the 7-Nation Headquarters in beautiful Hood River, OR.

Job Overview:

The Customer Service Dept. provides support for two brands and a global network of dealers, importers, and customers. It is a faced paced environment that requires attention to detail, problem-solving and excellent communication. The seasonal clerk will manage the front desk and reception area as well as assist in answering email inquiries, phone calls, processing warranty claims, dealer services support, and excellent overall customer satisfaction.

Main duties include:

  • Manage reception area and walk-in traffic
  • Customer service inquiries
  • Incoming calls
  • Warranty claims domestic and international
  • Order entry

Required skills:

  • Strong communications skills
  • Ability to stay on task in a fast-paced environment
  • Well organized
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred skills:

  • Previous reception or customer service job experience
  • Experienced in windsports (kiting, windsurfing, foiling, winging)
