Chasing Dreams, Pushing Limits
From living in a caravan at age 15 to competing on the world stage, Matilda Roux has built her kiteboarding career through dedication, sacrifice, and an unwavering belief in her dreams.

Meet Matilda Roux
Although I come from Toulouse, Leucate is the place I truly call home. When I was 15 years old, I moved there on my own to join a kiteboarding section and dedicate myself fully to the sport. I lived in a caravan at a campsite, building my life around training and chasing my dream.
How did you first get into kiteboarding?
I come from a very sporty and competitive family. When my brother started kitesurfing, I was so jealous because I was still considered too young and too light to start. I remember watching him from the beach and promising myself that one day I would be better than him.
When I finally got the chance to start kitesurfing, everything changed. The feeling of freedom was incredible, just you, the sound of the water, and the wind. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced.

Freestyle, Big Air, or both?
I love freestyle because it is a discipline that demands dedication, patience, and consistency. There is no feeling quite like landing a trick that you have been working on for years.
At the same time, I also love Big Air. It allows me to constantly push beyond my fears and step outside my comfort zone. It brings back that feeling of discovery and excitement, challenging myself to go higher, ride harder, and become a better athlete every day.
"I don't want to choose between freestyle and Big Air. I want both to be part of my journey as a kiteboarder."
The Promise She Made To Herself
When I was 15 years old, I left home and moved to Leucate on my own to pursue my dream. I lived in a caravan, away from my parents, and not every day was easy.
Back then, I made a promise to that young girl that one day I would make it. Every time things get difficult, I remember that promise. And for her, I will keep pushing until I achieve my goals.
Who Inspires You The Most?
My parents and my brother. They have always been there for me. From the moment I decided to fully commit to kitesurfing, they became my team.
They are true fighters, starting from very little and building opportunities through hard work, humility, and always giving their best to help us chase our dreams.
